Global challenges have increasingly become domestic challenges. How do we make sense of it all? On the days specified for each location, the Council conducts Discussion Groups dedicated to exploring current and fundamental international questions facing us. The Discussion Groups are conducted in cooperation with CSUMB-OLLI (California State University Monterey Bay - Osher Life Long Learning Institute) and MPC (Monterey Peninsula College) at their respective locations.

In an informal setting and facilitated by a moderator, attendees air their views and hear those of others. The next month’s topic is announced in the current issue of The Passport, the Council’s newsletter. Attendance is free.

Every spring, the Council conducts a special series entitled Great Decisions. This is America's largest discussion program on world affairs.  The program model involves reading the Foreign Policy Association's Great Decisions Briefing Book, and meeting in Discussion Groups to discuss the eight most critical global issues facing America and the world today.
